A new year is a new opportunity to travel out and experience the world.

But where should you travel to in 2024?

We asked our experts for their travel recommendations for destinations in the coming year. Here is our guide to the 10 best travel destinations for 2024.

Brazil

The beautiful Teatro Amazonas in Manaus, Brazil

Will 2024 be the year when you cross the biggest experiences off your wish list? If so, you should head to South America’s biggest country, Brazil. Brazil offers some of the world’s biggest attractions, including one of the world’s biggest waterfalls, the world’s biggest rainforest, the world’s biggest tropical wetlands and the world’s biggest carnival. And the country’s unique combination of beautiful nature and wildlife, fascinating history and colourful culture is a combination that everyone should have on their bucket list.

Don’t miss: Manaus, the biggest city in the Amazon region, located right where the black Rio Negro and sand-coloured Rio Solimões meet. Manaus is your gateway to the Amazon’s lush experiences, and while you’re in the city, we recommend a trip to the beautiful pink theatre and opera house, Teatro Amazonas. The city has also been named “Best in Travel 2024” by Lonely Planet.

Sri Lanka

We usually say “Small country – big experiences” because that’s exactly what awaits you on a tour to Sri Lanka. This small, tropical island charms visitors with its green tea plantations, historic temples and ruins, its exciting wildlife and not least its very friendly people who make you feel like a welcome guest. The golden beaches of Mirissa, Trincomalee or Negombo are the icing on the cake. And the Maldives are just a short flight away if you dream of further pampering your senses with the Maldives’ white sandy beaches.

Don’t miss: The Sinharaja Rainforest, perhaps one of Sri Lanka’s best-kept secrets. It has exciting stories to tell and is home to 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic animal species.

Peru & Ecuador

Dream of experiencing South America in 2024 and want to cross even more countries off your bucket list? Then it makes sense to combine several countries in one tour, e.g. Peru and Ecuador. This way you get the fairy-tale mix of Peru’s ancient ruins and treasure trove of architectural buildings, and the absolutely unique nature of Ecuador, which on the mainland offers the Andes and volcanoes, and on the Galapagos Islands flexes its muscles with the exceptional wildlife.

Don’t miss: hike at almost 5,000 m.a.s.l. in the magical Rainbow Mountains of Peru (Palccoyo), the unique colour combination of which is in striking contrast to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes in the distance.

Botswana

Tent at dusk in the Okavango Delta, Botswana

Go on safari in Botswana, which offers some of Africa’s most unspoilt and least visited national parks, where it is nevertheless possible to experience virtually all of Africa’s known animal species. And if you’re really adventurous, a visit to the Okavango Delta, where you sleep in a tent, is a must. Imagine lying under the covers, listening to the sounds of elephants, impalas, lions somewhere outside. You can’t get much closer to nature than this – an adventure you’ll never forget!

Don’t miss: Sleeping in a tent in the Okavango Delta. We’re repeating ourselves, but it IS a truly unique experience.

Australia

From desolate desert in the heart of the country to cosmopolitan cities along the coasts, magical nature experiences and one of the world’s most hospitable people. Sound like something you’d like to experience in 2024? If so, take a short (!) trip to the other side of the world, where Australia is waiting to welcome you. This vast country is an inexhaustible gift box of experiences, just waiting to be opened – look forward to it!

Don’t miss: Kangaroo Island in South Australia, just a short flight from Adelaide. It’s Australia’s third largest island, which offers a stunning coastline, adorable wildlife and some of the country’s best beaches.

South Africa

Get right up close to the wild beauty of South Africa, which unfolds in the country’s beautiful national parks & private game reserves, in the scenic Winelands with their straight rows of vines, along the unique coast and, of course, in one of the world’s most beautifully situated cities, Cape Town. Go on safari in South Africa in 2024 and explore the wonderful world of animals – some of the most varied wildlife in Africa, and combine your tour with the countless experiences that the country has to offer.

Don’t miss: Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve – if you dream of the ultimate luxury experience and are ready to spend the money on it. You get access to one of South Africa’s very best safari areas – and everything is included!

Java

You could spend many months exploring Indonesia, but if you only have a few weeks to travel in in 2024, a tour to Java offers a small but fantastic insight into Indonesia’s cultural wealth. Java is located on the Indonesian “Ring of Fire”, which is the world’s most active range of volcanoes – so a visit here takes you to fascinating landscapes with almost verdigris green rice fields flanked by iconic volcanic scenery. And if you round it off with a beach holiday on one of the other Indonesian islands, Bali, the tour is completed in the most beautiful way.

Don’t miss: the sunrise over the active Mount Bromo, Java’s most famous volcano. We promise you that it is one of the world’s most beautiful sunrises.

Tanzania

Lion lying relaxing in Nyerere National Park in Tanzania

Tanzania is often called the ultimate safari destination, and the country also offers an abundance of spectacular experiences; from great natural phenomena to the unique African wildlife, The Ngorongoro Crater, which bears witness to the volcanoes of the past, the Great Migration, when millions of animals wander in search of fresh grass, and the amazing Serengeti National Park, where the sky goes on forever and there is no end to the wildlife. And then there’s Zanzibar. Outstanding Zanzibar, which invites you to relax under the palm trees on the white sandy beaches.

Don’t miss: safari in Tanzania’s largest national park, Nyerere, which is more than twice the size of the Serengeti and offers authentic and varied safari experiences that you don’t have to share with many, other than the animals that live there.

Colombia

Isla Grande in Colombia

Colombia offers some of South America’s best kept secrets: Experience the great contrasts between the Caribbean beaches, snow-capped Andes, barren deserts and the Amazon jungle. If you’re looking for a cultural or culinary experience in Colombia, you can visit the country’s lush coffee plantations or the charming colonial towns, where nature and history really shine through, offering experiences that few other places in the world can boast of. Want to be let in on this South American secret in 2024?

Don’t miss: Rosario and San Bernardo National Park, known for its colourful fish and marine life, making it a great destination for snorkelling. The national park is just a short boat ride from charming Cartagena.

Japan

Ryokan Ichinoyu Honkan in Hakone, Japan

Will 2024 be the year when you experience the wild contrasts between Asia’s state-of-the-art technology and its ancient traditions? In that case, a tour to Japan is the right decision. Traditional cities such as Kyoto are just a high-speed train ride away from Tokyo’s neon-lit streets. If you travel there in the spring, you may be lucky enough to experience Sakura – the cherry blossoms in bloom, and in the autumn, it is Koyo – the autumn foliage adorning the landscapes. And we can’t mention Japan without mentioning the food. Oh, the food! There are many highlights to look forward to in Japan!

Don’t miss: an overnight stay at a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn, where you get to experience the old Japanese traditions and a completely unique atmosphere. You also have the opportunity to try the traditional onsen baths here.
