A Touch of Cuba

Enjoy a taste of Cuba’s exciting history in beautiful Havana, experience the rural idyll and breathtaking scenery of the Viñales Valley and end with music and dance in the colonial gem that is Trinidad.

Choose this tour because…

A trip to Cuba is like a trip to a lost world. Cuba, due to its communist rule and American trade blockade, has been hidden in its own pocket of time. Although Fidel Castro passed away in 2016, and small changes have started to appear in the country, Cuba remains a country all to itself, and simply must be experienced!
On this tour, you visit the charming capital of Havana, which pulses with life, music and history. From the busy capital, the tour goes to the countryside and the lush Viñales Valley, where, among other things, you can see how their famous tobacco crops are grown.
The tour concludes in Trinidad, which is – if possible – even more charming and pleasant than Havana with its cobblestone streets and gorgeously colourful colonial buildings.  In Trinidad, you experience Cuban music and rhythm like nowhere else in the world. Put on your dancing shoes and get on the dance floor with a salsa, or lean back and enjoy the dancing crowds while you enjoy a chilled mojito.

On this tour, transport is done by bus, and you have private accommodation at “casa particulares”. You have some time at your leisure in the cities, or you can choose to purchase extra tours from home.

You have the option of extending the tour with a beach holiday at one of Cuba’s stunning beaches.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from the UK and arrival in Havana

Departure from the UK and arrival at the Havana airport with connecting flights on the way. Here you meet with our partner in Cuba, who is standing ready with a sign with your name on it. A driver takes you to your accommodations in Havana. The trip takes approx. 30 min. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2: City tour in Havana

After breakfast, you take a city tour of Havana’s old quarter. Put on your good walking shoes, and let the guide take you through Havana’s cobblestone streets to impressive sites with beautiful old colonial buildings. You experience the contrast between the newly-renovated and maintained streets and buildings, and the more dilapidated areas, that makes Havana so unique. You visit locations including the oldest part of the city, Plaza de las Armas, where the city museum and the governor’s palace are located. Plaza de San Francisco Asis at the port of Havana, Plaza Vieja and Plaza de la Catedral with its beautiful cathedral. It isn’t hard to see why Havana’s old quarter is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List of places worthy of preservation.

You have the rest of the afternoon and evening to yourself.

Day 3: Havana on your own
Day 4: Havana – Viñales Valley

Today you say goodbye to Havana and set a course for the Viñales Valley, where stunning nature experiences await. The trip to Viñales takes around 4 hours. On your arrival in Viñales, you will be driven to your accommodation.

Look forward to dinner, which is prepared by your host family and made from fresh, local ingredients.

Days 5-6: Viñales Valley on your own
Day 7: Viñales Valley – Trinidad

You are picked up early in the morning and driven to the bus station, from which the bus to Trinidad departs. This will be a long day of travelling, approx. 10 hours, so lean back in the soft seats and enjoy the lush Cuban landscape as it zips by. On the highways of Cuba, you don’t just encounter other cars and buses. Here there are pedestrians, cyclists, ox carts and horse carriages in surprising harmony with one another. You can also enjoy the sight of the colourful American cars, which aren’t just there to look pretty.

At the end of the afternoon, you reach the charming city of Trinidad, which is also on UNESCO’s list of sites worthy of preservation.

Days 8-9: Trinidad

With its colourful colonial buildings, topped cobblestone and charming plazas and churches, you can’t help but fall in love with Trinidad a little. All the highlights are within walking distance, so get your good walking shoes on and go exploring in the old quarter, where you will find pleasant squares and picturesque buildings, as well as many exciting museums.

In Trinidad, you experience Cuban music and rhythm like nowhere else, and in the evening, there is always music in the streets. At Plaza Mayor, you can find the popular “Casa de la musica” dancing spot, which always has live music. Put on your dancing shoes and get on the dance floor with a salsa, or lean back and enjoy the cheerful dancing crowds while you enjoy a chilled mojito.

Approx. 15 km from Trinidad is the lovely Ancón Beach, where you can head out for a refreshing swim and unwind on the sand.

You have the days in Trinidad at your disposal, or you can choose to purchase extra excursions from home.

Day 10: Trinidad - Havana

Today, you head back to Havana. The trip back to Havana takes approx. 6 hours.

You have the rest of the day at your disposal, and you can buy a last couple of souvenirs, or perhaps visit one of Havana’s many museums, such as the Museum of the Revolution, which shows Fidel Castro’s story and rise to power.

You can also head to the beach promenade El Malecon, and take a stroll along the water, where Cubans themselves come to hang out.

Day 11: Departure day

Today the tour takes you back to the UK. You are picked up at your accommodations and driven to the airport.

You have the option of extending this trip with a beach holiday at one of Cuba’s stunning beaches. See more below.

Day 12: Arrival back home

You arrive in the UK after an exciting tour of Cuba.
